For the love of words

Storytelling. Writing. Ideas.

I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t love anything and everything to related to communicating… even if I didn’t know to call it that.

I can still remember begging my parents for just one more story at bedtime as a toddler, and well into elementary school. At times throughout my childhood, I wanted to be a playwright, a poet. Then a journalist. A novelist. Always a writer, always working with words.

I loved school, every step of the way. Any course related to language, reading or communication, be it: a creative writing, mythology, German, literature, journalism or marketing class.

I loathed the idea of parting with any of my textbooks, and still have them all. Maybe that makes me a bit of a hoarder, but I’ve learned to cope with the label.

It is my love of learning that drew me to communications and marketing in the first place. Working in communication, you can work in any organization or industry. I have never stopped learning throughout my career in journalism, employee communications and marketing.

I’ve worked in such diverse fields as higher education, retail, publishing, technology, health care and news. I can’t get enough of it.

And I don’t intend to stop anytime soon.
